The Scotch Whisky Experience – Charges Involved (This will appear on the registration receipt as “Social Event”)

The Scotch Whisky Experience is a 5 star visitor attraction which has earned a reputation as a leading Edinburgh hospitality venue. Centrally located next to Edinburgh Castle, makes this an ideal spot for business lunches, meetings, conferences, business entertaining or private dinners and parties.

Become a ‘one-hour-whisky-expert’ as guides impart their expertise, culminating in a tasting in their stunning whisky collection. After enjoying the tour, you’ll compare and contrast four regional single malts with specially created canape to accompany each malt. This tour will take approximately 90 minutes and easy walking distance from the conference venue. The tour will start at 17:00 allowing time after the conference ends to gather for the Whisky Experience.

Advanced Forming Research Centre – Complimentary

The Advanced Forming Research Centre is a globally-recognised centre of excellence in innovative manufacturing technologies, R&D, and metal forming and forging research and is part of the University of Strathclyde. The centre is involved in world leading metal forming and forging research and is at the heart of manufacturing research and development in Scotland.

The AFRC is located at Inchinnan, close to Glasgow International Airport, some 58 miles (95 km) west of Edinburgh. A bus will be provided from the conference venue, to the company premises and return to conference venue. It is expected that the tour from start to finish will take approximately 6 hours, so leaving at 09:00 delegates can expect to be returned to conference venue by 15:00 .

Torness Power Station – Complimentary

EDF’s Torness nuclear power station is located approximately 30 miles (50 km) to the east of Edinburgh at Torness Point  in East Lothian, Scotland. Torness was the last of the United Kingdom’s second generation nuclear power plants to be commissioned (25 May 1988). The station consists of two advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR) capable of producing a peak rating of 1364 MWe.

Access to this station requires security clearance. You will be contacted by email to provide some identity verification.

A bus will be provided from the conference venue, to the company premises and return to conference venue. A complementary lunch will be provided (awaiting confirmation). It is expected that the tour from start to finish will take approximately 6 hours, so leaving at 09:00 delegates can expect to be returned to conference venue by 15:00

Gleneagles – King’s Golf Course – Charges Involved

The Gleneagles Hotel nestles in the heart of a beautiful Scottish glen, 45 miles (75 km) north west of the conference venue. Set in an 850-acre estate it has been a byword for luxury and elegance since it first opened its doors in 1924.

Golf is at the very heart of Gleneagles. With three championship golf courses it’s no surprise Gleneagles is a member of Great Golf Resorts of the World. Golf at Gleneagles predates the construction of the hotel 90 years ago, with the first course – The King’s – dating back to 1919. The King’s Course was designed by the great James Braid, five time winner of The Open Championship, and opened in 1919

  • The King’s is arguably the best inland course in Scotland and is a triumph of golf course design with every hole offering a surprise. Braid’s plan was to test even the best players’ shot making skills
  • A Par 70 measuring 5,220 yards up to 6,471 yards
  • The King’s Course has hosted The Bell’s Scottish Open as well as pro-celebrity golf over many years.

A complementary bus will be provided from the conference venue, to the golf course and return to conference venue. Green fees are £220, trolleys and golf sets for hire are additional. A well equipped bar and restaurant is also available at your own cost.

Costs for this are payable by the delegate. Registration for this activity allows the conference organisers to book your place on the course and co-ordinate the transportation. The evening prior to the round delegates should meet to arrange 4 ball groupings.

St Andrews – Castle Golf Course – Charges Involved

For more than 600 years St Andrews Links, much like the game of golf itself, has evolved. Today more than 230,000 rounds are played over our seven public courses. From Archbishop Hamilton’s charter in 1552 recognising the right of the people of St Andrews to play golf on the Links to Seve Ballesteros’ famous Open Championship victory on the Old Course in 1984, delve into the truly unique history at the Home of Golf.

Situated just over 50 miles (80 km) north east of the conference centre. A bus will be provided from the conference venue, to the golf course and return to conference venue. Green fees are £120, trolleys and golf sets for hire are additional. A well equipped bar and restaurant is also available at your own cost.

Costs for this are payable by the delegate. Registration for this activity allows the conference organisers to book your place on the course and co-ordinate the transportation. The evening prior to the round delegates should meet to arrange 4 ball groupings.

Note booking for all the tours will be left open until registration at the conference. Spaces for the tours will be limited particularly the whisky and golf so the later you leave it to book the risk is that it will be full.
